bangeluru bases ai startup minus zero unveals indias first autonomous vehicle z pod

125 Views 10 months ago

Bengaluru-based autonomous driving startup, Minus Zero, has unveiled what it claims to be India’s first fully autonomous vehicle.
Christened the ‘zPod’, this all-electric prototype is based on a camera-sensor suite coupled with AI algorithms, thus helping it navigate through traffic without the presence of a human driver or for a fact, a steering wheel.Furthermore, it can seat a total of four passengers on its seats facing each other.
The startup is essentially not an automotive OEM but instead a tech-firm that aims to provide its autonomous tech to other manufacturers to help them enhance their ADAS suite. As opposed to other vehicles with ADAS features, the zPod does not use LIDAR (light detection and ranging), but instead uses six monocular cameras. The company claims that this prototype vehicle can scale up to level 5 of autonomy capabilities - which means that the vehicle can drive by itself in all environmental and geographical constraints.
