India is an amazing country. I would say it is a magical country for many reasons. One reason for this is certainly the kindness of ordinary people. I consider this a virtue. Let me give you an example. Once when I was in Chennai, I went to take cash in an ATM, and I got a Rs 1000 bill. Well, I was in need of change. I needed small changes for auto fare, bus fare, etc.  

I was at the place of my guru Padmabhushan awardee C V Chandrasekhar. In India, people mill around other houses. Friends and relatives drop in for a conversation. At my guru’s place, there are always many of his students who come in. My guru said Yoko needs change for Rs 1000. Well, one lady, my guru’s student, came forward to help me. She told me it is perhaps for the first time I am carrying so much change, and without any hesitation, she handed over all her changes to me.  Well, this is a small example. This is a small gesture. Such gestures of helping each other are in abundance in India.  

In India it comes very naturally for people to help each other. It is natural for them to support each other. That is because of their humanity. That makes India a magical place.
