The year 2021 is wrapping up, and for almost all of us, it’s been both mentally and physically challenging. With the new year approaching us, it’s time to start reassessing our goals and, for many people, making New Year’s resolutions. Here are top New Year’s resolutions for your mental health to help you start 2022 off right.
▪️Don't be too hard on yourself: While some resolutions seem motivating at first but they can put an individual under a lot of pressure later on and create feelings of anxiety and decreased self-esteem. It can be hard for many of us to stay motivated for a long time even when one has chosen a simpler, more realistic goal.
▪️Open Up About Your Feelings: Another way to improve your mental health for the new year is to open up more to the people in your life.Opening up to people about your feelings, worries or hopes is a great way to improve your mental health. It could help you deal with troubled times. When you express what is on your mind to someone, you will be lifting the weight off your shoulders.
▪️Forgive Yourself: Mindfulness is something we should be focussing on this year.Another resolution could be self-forgiveness as a lot of things are not in our hands in pandemic era and we can't be responsible for everything, so letting go and forgiving yourself should be the motto this year.
▪️Focus On Self-Care: Self-healing as a resolution can be beneficial in several ways. One should also work on developing self-awareness in order to become a better person because when you are a better person, things are bound to become better around you.
▪️Consider Social Media Detox: There’s no doubt that social media has interconnected much of the world and can be a great way to keep in touch with friends and family. However, with increasing use, social media has the potential to have a negative effect on mental health. Social media sites can increase stress levels and have a detrimental impact on mood due to the fact that they encourage us to compare our lives to the lives of other people.
