Watch: Casemiro got sent off for strangling an opponent

Casemiro was shown a red card during his team's 2-1 win over Crystal Palace after grabbing his opponent by the throat.

Manchester United bounced back from a disappointing league loss to Arsenal with a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace. Bruno Fernandes put his team ahead with a calm penalty, and Marcus Rasford doubled the Red Devils' lead in the second half.

Erik ten Hag's men nearly threw it away when Casemiro was sent off for putting his hands around a Crystal Palace player's neck.

With 66 minutes gone, the Eagles and Red Devils got into a minor brawl, with both sides pushing and shoving.

It all started when Jeff Schlupp appeared to push Antony down the slope into the advertising hoardings.

Referee Andre Marriner booked both players before VAR intervened to investigate one incident in particular.

Casemiro was quickly caught with his hands around Crystal Palace midfielder Will Hughes' neck.

After a quick review, the incident was determined to be violent conduct, and Marriner issued the Brazilian a straight red.

Crystal Palace pulled a goal back through Jeffrey Schlupp in the dying minutes of the game, but they were unable to capitalise on their man advantage.

Manchester United will suffer a significant setback as a result of the Brazilian's dismissal, as he will now miss the club's next three games, which are crucial to their season.

In a television interview, Ten Hag said, "The first 70 minutes were all ours, we dominated the game and played really well." A big compliment for the team, a lot of energy, and they played really well in possession and in the defence transition.

"We demonstrated during the last 20 minutes that we can fight and battle." "They show strong teamwork by standing up for one another, and we are pleased with that,"  he added.
