As tensions between China and Taiwan have escalated over the last year, with Chinese Air Force planes entering the latter’s air space and conducting war games like beach landings. Twenty-eight warplanes flying into Taiwan’s air defence identification zone after crossing the Taiwan Strait in June was considered the most severe escalation on behalf of China.
China regards Taiwan as part of its territory and has threatened to use force and bring it under its control.
Now Taiwan is showing its capability by conducting its own set of war games. The drills have included military aircraft taking off and landing on regular highways, the introduction of new weapons and their capability. Taiwan is also showing off its new ships. Called the Han Kuang exercises, the war games are held every year. Live-fire drills, war gaming in case of an invasion and testing the readiness of Taiwan in case of an invasion is part of the drill. This year, they are also simulating the use of chemical and biological weapons by China. [ https://www.france24.com/en/live-news/20210915-taiwan-jets-land-on-highway-for-chinese-invasion-wargame ]
