Gemma Grainger, the manager of Wales, has extended her contract to take over the team until 2027.
In March 2021, Grainger took over as manager after Jayne Ludlow left. He led Wales to their first major tournament play-off final, where they were defeated 2-1 by Switzerland.
Grainger's new contract is a reward for her work with Wales because it piqued club teams' attention.
I'm thrilled to have renewed my contract and continue working with this unique group, the woman stated.
"All of those characteristics are a fantastic combination because I'm an ambitious coach, these guys are ambitious, and the FAW is ambitious.
"We aim to carry on our development and energy from the last qualifying campaign into the upcoming year and the following two qualifying campaigns, both on and off the field.
The 40-year-old takes over as head coach of Wales after serving the Football Association for 11 years in various England development squads; her previous contract was valid through 2025.
Noel Mooney, the chief executive of the Football Association of Wales [FAW], stated to BBC Sport Wales in December that Grainger and the association had began contract negotiations as a result of the interest in Grainger.
Grainger has led Wales to triumph despite the fact that her team was unable to secure a spot in their first big tournament.
Wales came in second place in their World Cup qualifying group and advanced to the play-off round for the first time, however they were defeated 2-1 by Switzerland in the championship game in Zurich.
Throughout the tournament, Wales consistently broke their attendance record; at the Cardiff City Stadium, their play-off victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina was witnessed by 15,200 spectators.
Wales will next be in action when they return to Spain for the Pinatar Cup in 2023.
Wales face Philippines on Wednesday, 15 February, Iceland three days later and Scotland on Tuesday, 21 February.
The competition will help prepare Gemma Grainger's side for their 2025 Women's Euro qualifiers, with the draw for that campaign due in the spring.
