Nathan Broadhead's injury-time strike earned a draw for Wales away in Croatia in Euro2024 qualification game. As the Welsh team played their first game after Gareth Bale's retirement, an invaluable draw away against the World Cup semifinalists was a great opener to European qualification.
Croatia boasts an extraordinary home record in European Qualifiers. Prior to kick-off, they had won thirty four games at home and drawn one. This was only the second time Croatia failed to win a qualification game at home. Broadhead's goal understandably provoked bedlam late in the game. Goalkeeper Danny Ward ran the length of the pitch to join in the celebrations with the 1700 travelling Welsh fans.
Andrej Kramaric scored the opener in the first half and for most of the game it looked like Croatia would bag a routine three points. Ivan Perisic, who had a goal disallowed in the first half, also hit the post late in the second. Broadhead then scored this equaliser having been given a lifeline but poor finishing from the home side.
