Via Facebook: After recovering from Covid-19 my ejaculation has become faster. It’s as if I am unable to control it any more.
Dr Ajit Saxena: What you are experiencing is not unusual.
This happens mainly due to changes in the brain’s neurotransmitters, molecules that work constantly to keep our brains functioning.
These molecules can affect a variety of psychological functions such as fear, mood, pleasure and joy.
Changes in neurotransmitters can occur primarily due to infection, depression, variation in hormone levels
and even due to treatment given for Covid-19, especially the use of steroids.
Viral infection can also lead to an overall weakness of muscles, including penile muscles. All these can lead to premature ejaculation, as the muscles temporarily loses its power to hold.
Give it some time, about six months. In the meanwhile continue having a high protein diet. If the situation still doesn’t improve, consult a local andrologist.
Dr Ajit Saxena is senior consultant, uro-andrologist at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi. He is also the co-founder of vvox.
