Unterbäch's approximately 450 inhabitants have found a little corner of paradise to call home. Since nature reigns supreme here, it is the perfect starting point for hikers and mountain bikers, with lush, brightly coloured flower-filled meadows and irrigation channels lining the trails. In the winter, this small winter sports resort, where snow is guaranteed, offers ample space on its broad, sunny slopes. There is a snow sports school for children and those trying out snow sports for the first time.
Winter
Snow-covered forests, vast expanses of snow and a breathtaking panorama are the perfect backdrop for visitors embarking on snow-shoe tours and winter hikes. There are no queues for lifts and now crowds on the slopes here. This ski region is all about families - so much so that all children under the age of 9 can use all the facilities for free. Guests will always find a seat with a panoramic view in the cosy mountain huts here. However, there is also no shortage of action and variety off-piste, from the five-kilometre tobogganing run and the winter hiking trails to the Gastro-Safari and the area's many snow-shoeing trails.
Summer
In the summer time, Unterbäch boasts pristine nature, healthy Alpine air, a breathtaking panorama and lash- ings of Valais charm. Unterbäch is a haven for nature lovers and families seeking relaxation, hiking or biking enjoyment and other attractive offerings in the village. The Suonen- und Sudelpark irrigation and puddle park, which is integrated into a large playground, is well worth a visit for families. Here, children can discover how the old irrigation system in Valais works through play. Other highlights include the adventure playground at the edge of the forest, a number of biking trails, the pump track, the scooter trail, geocaching and electric bike rental.
Thanks to its central location, you can also use Unterbäch as a base from which to explore the entire Canton of Valais.
