The Central Bank of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan says it has received $16 million in cash in the continuation of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.
The bank issued a statement today, stating that the amount of cash was transferred to the country yesterday by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).
The Central Bank of Afghanistan oversees the banking system and has transferred this amount to the International Bank of Afghanistan, the statement stressed.
According to central bank officials, they are trying to prevent the spread of poverty and hunger in the country by using various and principled means.
In addition, the statement also assures the people that the countryโs banking system will soon return to normal.
Meanwhile, this amount of money is being donated in cash as the country faces a humanitarian crisis and extreme poverty since the Taliban takeover.
In the past, most countries had said they would help the Afghan people, but would not provide that assistance to the Taliban interim government.
On the other hand, this is the first time that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has received direct cash assistance from the international agencies since the takeover.
