Arsenal and Tottenham have been the most active English clubs in this window. The Gunners are pushing for a striker while Spurs are targeting to spend big on a right wing-back, midfielder, and an attacker.


Starting with the club from the Emirates stadium, Dusan Vlahovic remains the No.1 target. As per Sami Mokbel from Daily Mail, the Gunners will need to sort out around￡58m as a transfer fee and draw a contract that helps the Serbian earn over ￡300,000 per week, which includes taxes. Arsenal will have to pay an additional ￡15m in the form of agent fees to the player’s camp. 

The Gunners are leading the race to sign him but other clubs are monitoring his situation. But, Vlahovic’s intention is clear. He wants to guide Fiorentina to Champions League qualification and end the season on high. From the player’s perspective, a January move seems unlikely but Arsenal is determined to pay what it takes to land the Serbian striker.

At White Hart Lane, Conte, Paratici, and Levy had a meeting on Monday. Their strategy is to carefully observe the free-agent market for the summer. Equal priority will be given to outgoings as well. Adama Traore is top on their short-list while Tottenham approached Jesse Lingard’s representatives, aiming for the free-agent market. 


Franck Kessie stands on top of Paratici’s list as their ideal center-midfield target but a move looks unlikely in winter due to AFCON. This window could be the time to lay down foundations before making bids in the summer. Meanwhile, defensive midfielder Bruno Guimarães is monitored by rivals Arsenal.

Spurs are looking to sell Bergwijn to Ajax while uncertainty remains over the futures of Doherty, Rodon, and Ndombele. Maitland-Niles left Arsenal on loan for Roma and Balogun is having a medical to complete a loan move to Middlesbrough.

The end of the January transfer window will be interesting for both clubs as things could go down to the wire.
