Good for Indian Para Sports – Tokyo Paralympics gold medallist shooter Avani Lekhara shares Puma’s branding space with bollywood star Kareena Kapoor and Olympic medallist boxer Marry Kom.
The performance in the Tokyo Paralympics turned out to be a game changer for the Indian para sports. India fielded its biggest-ever contingent (54) in Tokyo and they came out with the country’s best-ever showing in the para quadrennial games.
India won 19 medals, including 5 gold, in Tokyo, surpassing its earlier best performance of 4 medals at Rio Games. In the previous 11 editions of the games –in which India competed – the country won 12 medals.
The showing in the Tokyo Paralympics is brining a positive change in the society’s approach towards people with disability.
The biggest star among the Indian para-athletes at the Tokyo Games, shooter Avani Lekhara, has shared a PUMA’s branding space with bollywood star Kareena Kapoor.
Lekhara won gold in the 10m air rifle and bronze in 50m Rifle 3 positions events.
A vertical branding board outside the PUMA store in Chandigarh’s Sector 17 Market, is attracting eyeballs for featuring multiple medalists para shooter Lekhara, Olympic medalist boxer Marry Kom and bollywood’s one of the top female stars Kareena.
The branding board featured three women stars with a logo of PUMA’s campaign Propah Lady – The campaign celebrates the shift from women being told what to do, to them writing their own rules, breaking stereotypes.
Before the Tokyo Games (Olympics & Paralympics), the multinational sportswear company signed 18 athletes, including three para-athletes Lekhara (shooting), Bhavina Patel (Table Tennis) and Ekta Bhayan (Discus Throw).
Last year, Puma signed film star Kareena as its brand ambassador in India for two years.
