Thoughts on why I don’t see Leo Messi returning to Newell's Old Boys in 2025

1. Leo Messi has an option to extend his contract at Inter Miami by +1 year. And if he’s in the best condition and has sights set on #FIFAWorldCup 2026, staying in USA will be the best option for his preparation.

2. The commercial value and partnership with the likes of MLS, Apple and Adidas to get closer to owning a team / stake in one will be best achieved by spending more time there.

3. After 2 years in Paris, Leo would love to bring some sort of stability for his kids’ education and development on the football pitch.

Note: Thiago and Mateo are already a part of the Inter Miami academy.

4. If he does leave Inter Miami in 2025, a return to FC Barcelona will be higher on the list for sure.
