"They’re definitely not going to challenge Manchester City," Tony Adams on Arsenal
Arsenal failed to claim the Premier League title this season, despite coming close to rivals Manchester City. The Gunners held the top spot in the league for the majority of the season, but a couple of poor results towards the end meant that they finished a couple of points behind Manchester City.
Arsenal icon Tony Adams has cast a doubt on Mikel Arteta's side chances next season. He believes that most of the players in his side have already peaked, and they will not be able to challenge Manchester City for the title again.
"I do fear that this could be as good as it gets for them. I hate to sound like a prophet of doom, but I do believe that a lot of this team has already peaked," he said.
"It was possibly the best season that many of them will ever have. I don’t think they’ll get to that level again."
Tony Adams believes that Arsenal will have to make serious recruitments in the upcoming summer transfer window for them to maintain the runner-ups status in the Premier League.
"They’re definitely not going to challenge Manchester City next season and without serious recruitment this summer it will be a struggle for them to finish runners-up again," he added.
