The world is discovering Yunus Musah

England vs USA was hyped as one of the best games of the group stage when the draw was done but it ended in a dour 0-0 draw. The US however will be more pleased with their performance than England considering the Americans were way more dominant. Their midfield bossed England's midfield and the main reason for this was 19 year old Yunus Musah. The youngest American to play in a World Cup match, Musah has been excellent in both their games so far.
Funnily enough even though he was born in New York, he moved to London at 9 years of age and began playing for Arsenal's academy. He even played for England's youth teams 30 times. But in 2019 he moved to Valencia in Spain where he has had his breakthrough into men's football. Musah received a call up from the USMNT in 2020 and in 2021 declared that he was going to play for them, despite being eligible for Ghana, England and Italy as well.
Musah excels in a box to box 8 sort of role for both club and country. He is extremely energetic and never stops running and pressing, covering a lot of ground each game. He is also a very good ball progressor in particular through his dribbling. In fact he completes 1.62 dribbles per 90 minutes, which puts him in the top 10 percentile of midfielders in Europe in that regard. He also tends to get into shooting positions from dangerous late runs into the box.
Last night, Musah along with Tyler Adams ran a very highly rated England midfield ragged. It consisted of the likes of Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice both of whom are said to be well more than worth a 100 million dollars Euros in terms of transfer value. With his performance against them, Musah has garnered a lot of eyes before the January window and has probably added a few zeroes to his transfer value. But first he has to make sure he repeats his performance in the final group game, a winner-takes-all clash against Iran.
