The department of justice recently charged 47 individuals for nearly $250 million out of a COVID-19 federal program that was created to feed children in need.
The way that this game work is that a fake nonprofit was created That was purportedly intended to feed children in need. Then, they would recruit people to open up locations for that nonprofit. They wouldn’t say that those locations were feeding thousands of children when in reality, little to no children were being fed.
The shell company would then create fake invoices for food and fake names of children that they alleged to have fed.
The U.S. Attorney for Minnesota said, “They prioritized their own greed, stealing more than a quarter of a billion dollars in federal funds to purchase luxury cars, houses, jewelry, and coastal resort property abroad."
