Thank you for sharing, power to Kamlesh👏
Reposting @Chitrakoot story of Kamlesh and her bicycle!
Kamlesh Devi, 45, is the pride of her village Kihutiya in Chitrakoot district. She learned to cycle herself at the age of 45 because she had three daughters to take care of. Her husband died of an illness 14 years ago. Kamlesh decided to start farming; she started by growing onions but that was not a profitable crop. She then decided to grow flowers, beautiful calendula flowers.
When the lockdown was imposed first last year in India, she was worried how she would do her business. Kamlesh used to transport flowers to the market in the district headquarters by taking buses and shared autos. But covid made that difficult. So at the ripe old age of 45, Kamlesh bought a second hand cycle and learned how to ride on empty village streets at night, alone. And now she loves getting on her bike and pedalling away.
At first, her village was a bit apprehensive about her venture. But in time as they saw her thrive, a lot of young girls in the village are now learning how to cycle.
You go Kamlesh! :)
Is there a cuter story for the world bicycle day?
Thank you Chitrakoot Collective for this story!
