T20 Cricket World Cup: India vs Pakistan - The spirit of sports should win
Whenever India is taking its neighbor Pakistan in a cricket match, the intensity of the competition increases to many folds and if it's a world cup match, it becomes the most talked about and crucial match of the entire event.
The cricket match, followed by Pakistan as an opponent, has always placed the entire country under one umbrella and everyone wants to see the men in blue emerging victorious at any cost. Similarly, across the border too is trenched with the same patriotic feelings and they want the green jersey to win.
There is nothing wrong in supporting your own nation, your team, and your players. But whenever a sport is mixed with politics, it hampers the spirit of sports – the spirit that brings people closer.
Today's match between India & Pakistan in the ongoing T20 World Cup is not an exception. There is a voice that is against India playing with Pakistan, linking it with the public sentiments over the recent killings by terrorists in Kashmir.
Even a union minister had said that the match between India and Pakistan in the World Cup 2021 should not be played under the current circumstances.
The Nobel Peace prize winner and South Africa's great leader, Nelson Mandela, had said: “Sports has the power to change the world.”
Both India and Pakistan had conferred its highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna and Nishan-e-Pakistan, respectively, to Mandela and let’s hope both the nations would place his teaching on the spirit of sports ahead of politics.
When it comes to sports it is not about your religion, caste or colour that matters, what matters is your passion for the sport.
Let’s hope that in today's India-Pakistan match, the spirit of sports will win.
