Abortion is healthcare. No more, no less.
It doesn't matter if you think that aborting a fetus is somehow equivalent to homicide: the data is clear that banning abortion does nothing to decrease the number of abortions that people with uteruses get. Banning abortion merely drives it underground, where it becomes much more difficult for people to get safe abortions.
That's why anybody who is concerned about health and public safety must also be in favour of reproductive freedom, and the right to choose. That's also why the news coming out of the US today is devastating: SCOTUS just declined to block the abortion ban in Texas.
This is one of the most draconian and absurd laws I have ever seen: six weeks is not even enough time for many women to be aware that they're pregnant. The law does not even allow exceptions in cases of rape or incest. The law would allow private citizens (with no nexus to the person getting the abortion) to sue the abortion provider, the nurse, the doctor, the spouse of the person getting the abortion, the Uber driver who is taking the person to the abortion clinic....it is outrageous. It is unconscionable. It is a war on women.
