Shocking... Hope it's not true...
As much as I hate to believe it or to put it up here, I will still post this.
I will still post this because there is no media to cover the plight of girls and women in Afghanistan, there is none to help amplify our voices, and there is none who would hear us.
Surviving under the Taliban rule is just one story we hear all the time from Afghanistan but HOW is the main question. To survive the current economic crisis, Afghans are not only selling their household items but also their young infants!
Just a few weeks ago a woman from Baghlan province who was forced to move to Kabul due to the ongoing Taliban oppression, SOLD her one and a half year old baby to treat her 13 years old daughter. This is just one of the thousand stories I know from Afghanistan.
The picture I shared is from the slave market of the Ghazni province and I wish I am wrong ๐
Earlier the Taliban spokesperson said โSlavery is lawful and permitted in Islamโ. Young girls such as eight or ten are being sold as slaves by the Taliban in Ghazni and Kandahar provinces. The permission for such markets is being granted by the Mullahs who are associates of the Taliban.
Afghanistan undoubtedly is a patriarchal country; men like the Taliban play a huge role to keep the patriarchal forces alive.
Afghan women are fighting patriarchy, injustice and the Taliban at the same time, they need international support as soon as possible or else they will be pushed back to where they started.
