Mirabai Chanu’s silver medal winning triumph in Tokyo Olympics on Saturday has placed the entire country on a jubilant mood. It gives a sense of pride to over 1.3 billion plus Indians that we too are among the medal winning countries in Tokyo. It’s for the first time in the over 100 years history of India’s participation in the Olympics that the country is in the medal tally from day one. The credit goes to Manipur’s Mirabai.
On day one of the games, all thanks to Mirabai, the eves scored over their men counterparts, proving that Indian women are not less than anyone.
From Tokyo’s day one to the 2016 Rio Olympics, India has won three medals and all three were garnered by the women athletes.
