Retired Zimbabwean goalkeeper Bruce Grobbelaar spent majority of his career at Liverpool, where he won six league titles, one European Cup, three FA Cups and three League Cups, amongst other trophies.
He was known for his eccentric and flamboyant playing style, as well as his rushing ability.
In 1983-84, he became the first African to win the European Cup/UEFA Champions League after Liverpool defeated Roma 4-2 on penalties in the final.
At international level, Grobbelaar made 32 appearances for Zimbabwe. He played in the 1982, 1986 and 1994 World Cup qualifiers but never made it to the World Cup.
He also never played at the AFCON, as Zimbabwe made its AFCON debut in 2004- years after his retirement.
Following his retirement, Grobbelaar has coached the Zimbabwean national team, as well as South African clubs SuperSport United and Hellenic FC.
