Our next Pixstory takes a closer look at how emerging technologies are being promoted and incorporated into the United States Department of Defense (DoD). For the last several years, the US National Defense Strategy has highlighted several technologies as emerging. As we “CounterPivot” with our partners, and as Pixstory thought leaders, we see the following technologies as disruptive:
•artificial intelligence – systems capable of “human-level cognition”, that can be integrated into defense applications, logistics, surveillance, cyber operations, and other systems including semi-autonomous and autonomous vehicles.
•directed energy systems – systems expending concentrated electromagnetic energy, rather than kinetic energy, to “incapacitate, damage, disable, or destroy enemy equipment, facilities…”
•autonomous systems – capable to employ and position without manual human control.
•bio-technology – leveraging life sciences for technological applications.
•hypersonic systems (including glide vehicles and cruise missiles) – systems that can maneuver en route to their destination, and
•quantum technology - concentrating on encryption and stealth technologies and for other applications (radar, detection, etc.).
At CounterPivot, we recognize the vital role our Pixstory Partners, including industry and academia, have played, and will continue to play in facilitating and pioneering the disruptive impacts of these technologies now, and into the future.
