"Those who believe in black magic will never be able to earn the trust of the people," Prime Minister Narendra Modi said today in response to the Congress' recent black-clothes protest against price increases.
"As a result of their despair and negativity, some people turn to black magic. On August 5, we witnessed an attempt to spread black magic. These people believe that by dressing in black, their period of despair will be over."
Union Home Minister Amit Shah accused the Congress of appeasement politics over their protest, claiming it was against the Ram temple's foundation ceremony in Ayodhya.
Noting that August 5 was the anniversary of the foundation ceremony, he said the Congress was "sending a subtle message that they are protesting against the foundation ceremony for Ram Janmabhoomi and is carrying forward their policy of appeasement" by holding the protest in black clothes.
