In 2010 a kid from Belgium was making a name for himself in world football, with his outstanding performances, in the Belgian Pro League. Kevin De Bruyne was the brightest star coming out of Belgium and was a "wanted name" in world football. At 20, De Bruyne got his big move when he joined Chelsea in 2012. Kevin's time at Chelsea was the lowest point in his illustrious trophy-laden career.
Given the quality of midfielders at Chelsea, KDB could never break into the starting 11 at Stamford Bridge, and was loaned out to Werder Bremen. The Belgian enjoyed a successful loan spell at Bremen, and there was some good news for the returning Genk starlet. Jose Mourinho was named the new manager at Stamford Bridge, and the Portuguese assured Kevin more game time. However, it was the same old story for the Belgian. The Belgian was deprived of game time and had to kickstart his career elsewhere.
Over time De Bruyne was desperate for a breakthrough, so the Belgian joined Wolfsburg in 2014. The decision to join Wolfsburg turned out to be a triumphant one for KDB. The Belgian was phenomenal for the Wolves and lived up to his potential at the Volkswagen Arena. Kevin was named the 2015 "German Footballer Of The Year" and finished his first season with 16 goals and 28 assists in all competitions. The playmaker also broke the record - for the most number of assists in a calendar year in the Bundesliga. At Wolfsburg, KDB also won the DFB-Pokal and scored an all-important goal in the final against Dortmund.
Having impressed with Wolfsburg, KDB was again in the limelight for all the good reasons. In 2015, Kevin joined Manchester City for a club-record Β£55 million and made his much-awaited return to the PL. At the Etihad, the Belgian established himself as one of "The Best Midfielders" in Europe. The 30-year-old has already bagged 10 trophies at the Etihad, including 3 PL titles.
"With the vision of an eagle and the calmness of an assassin." The Belgian is the "Best Playmaker" in Europe, and we are blessed to have witnessed a talent like him.
