India appeals to Europe for assistance on refugees
Indian government urges the European Common Market to extend help for the Bangladeshi refugees in India. They also urge for 311,000 tonnes of rice, 175,000 tonnes of wheat, 50,000 tonnes of sugar, 187,000 tonnes of lentil, 40,000 tonnes of salt, 8,300 tonnes of powdered milk and 434,000 pieces of blankets from ECM.

Indira Gandhi sends letter to the Western
leaders on Bangladesh crisis
If situation in Bangladesh is not controlled within two weeks, India will take stern steps and declare emergency, Indian PM Indira Gandhi says in a letter to the western leaders. She also promises acknowledgement to Bangladesh in such situation and support to Muktibahini explicitly.
