Ghats of Ganga are perhaps the holiest spots of Varanasi. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Brahma created the ghat to welcome Lord Shiva. It has numbers of Ghats more than 100 ghats along side Ganga. People worship ganga as goddess. It is believed that the pilgrims take a dip in the Ganga just becomes free from all sin. The water of river has been called as 'water of immortality' due to its extraordinary quality. Hindu believe that the Ganga water has healing power , it removes skin diseases and elongates life. The water of Ganga ghat is green due to algae .

Ganga Aarti is main attraction of the Ganga Ghat . Everyday in the evening it is worshiped by the priests. Priests sang prayers in sanskrit which includes hymns from the vedas and other holy books. Not only the local people but foreigners also enjoy this prayer. It is called the "Ganga Aarti".

Best time to visit Ganga ghat is October to March months.
