PATNA: Accusing Bihar chief minister and JDU leader Nitish Kumar of indulging in ‘political corruption’ by engineering split in LJP, Bihar Congress on Monday urged LJP chief Chirag Pawan to walk away from BJP-led NDA and align with Congress-RJD led GA to fulfil dreams of his father, Ram Vilas Paswan.
The RJD leaders alleged that Kumar’s surreptitious design to unnerve Chirag in his own camp apparently reflected the JD(U) leader’s desperation to save his party from imminent onslaught from RJD chief Lalu Prasad, who had announced that days of Nitish Kumar government were numbered.
“Dusron ke ghar mein aag lagane wale ko nahi bhulna chahiye ki usi aag mein unka bhi ghar jal sakta hai However, Nitish Kumar can’t just wish away the troubles that stares at JDU after release of Lalu Prasad from jail. Abhi Khela hoga (The play is on), said RJD MLA Bhai Birendra.
AICC media panellist and MLC Prem Chandra Mishra, who doled out offer to Chirag to join hands with the GA, alleged that Nitish Kumar acted as an astute politician and utilised Covid pandemic as opportunity to bolster his political ambition. “Kumar was pursuing his political goals, when people were grappling with the challenge to survive the pandemic and the opposition parties were out to help those in distress,” said Mishra.
Birendra and State Congress spokesman Rajesh Rathore said that the JD(U)’s bid to disintegrate the LJP and obliterate the legacy of Ram Vilas Paswan would not succeed for long. “Paswan community would not spare Nitish Kumar for isolating Chirag Paswan in Bihar politics. Chirag will rise again on the legacy of his father. Paswan community will not back Pasupati Paras,” said the RJD leader.
Rathore said that it was not the first time when the JD(U) sought to annihilate Ram Vilas Paswan. “In 2005, Kumar made 21 out of 29 MLAs of LJP to desert Paswan and join his party,” said Rathore, adding that the Bihar CM had also made abortive bids to split the RJD and the Congress in the past,” said the Congress spokesman.
