As soon as India was defeated yesterday in T20 world cup match, Twitter & Instagram began to fill with derogatory statements against 'Mohammad Shami'.
Pakistan defeated India by ten wickets and none of the bowlers were able to leave an impact as Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan took the bowling to the cleaners.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli also saw some unruly fan behaviour and the trolls have also not been kind to him, as he is also being criticised for his captaincy during the game.
Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam put on a remarkable show on Sunday as Pakistan defeated India by 10 wickets at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The 31-year-old Shami became the main target after the defeat in Dubai, even though India captain Virat Kohli acknowledged that his side had been "outplayed".
Hundreds of messages were left on Shami's Instagram account saying he was a "traitor" and should be thrown out of the Indian team.
Among these hateful terms, Shami has been subjected to other derogatory abuses due to his muslim faith. With a rise in hatecrimes in recent years against the muslim community of India, Shami's trolling isn't surprising.
Cricketer 'Virender Sehwag' expressed his support on twitter " The online attack on Mohammad Shami is shocking and we stand by him"

With the rise in islamophobia and hatred in our country, one could only think, that if someone as influential as Mohammad Shami can be subjected to this kind of hate, what can a common man without a big name can go through?
