Who's your favourite this season? I would have said Lakers till last week. Now not so sure NBA Analytics
The Grizzlies vs Lakers game was easily the best game to watch tonight. It was a 3-point game decided by a missed FT by Ja Morant who had an incredible game with 40 PTS, 3 REB, 10 AST, 3 STL, 5 3PM on 61.9%-71.4%-81.8% shooting splits.
The Lakers stated off slow but picked up their momentum while DeAndre Jordan and Russel Westbrook were on the bench in the 1Q. When Russel Westbrook returned and was surrounded by shooters, they kept their momentum to close out the 1Q.
The Lakers started off great defensively with all the players putting in maximum effort. Lebron had a bad shooting night shoot 36.8% from the field however he did shoot 44.4% from 3PT range and played some good defense earning him 2 STL and 2 BLK. Although Russel Westbrook was inefficient as usual, he was not taking as many bad shots as he usually does and focused more on his playmaking resulting in 13 AST however, he does try to force extremely tough passes which most of the time result in TOVs and he had 9 TOV this game.
Anthony Davis had a good game, increasing his aggressiveness in the paint and defensively especially in the paint earning him 4 BLK with a great BLK on the perimeter on Jaren Jackson Jr. Although sometimes AD just doesnβt put enough effort on his paint defense.
Carmelo Anthony was certainly the star of the game scoring 28 PTS, 3 REB, 1 AST, 6 3PM on 66.7%-75%-100% shooting splits. He also passed Moses Malone on the All-Time Points Leaders List. The Laker did give up a lot of offensive rebounds resulting in a lot of 2nd chance points for the Grizzlies, and they also didnβt make a lot of shots in the paint. Luckily Melo, Monk and Bazemore were efficient from 3PT range with Lebron.
Overall, this was a much-needed win for the Lakers however, their reluctance to start AD at center and starting DeAndre Jordan who is not a starting level center for a championship level team is confusing to say the least.
