In a thrilling FA Cup tie at Old Trafford, Manchester United secured a convincing 3-1 victory over Fulham on Saturday afternoon. The home side dominated proceedings from start to finish, with Bruno Fernandes and Marcel Sabitzer finding the back of the net, while Mitrovic grabbed a consolation for the visitors.
The match started in a cagey manner, with both teams testing the waters. Despite the sustained pressure from United, it was Fulham who broke the deadlock early in the second half. Mitrovic scored a brilliant goal in the 50th minute, silencing the Old Trafford crowd and giving the visitors a surprise lead.
However, United responded almost immediately, and within just a few minutes, they had equalized. The referee awarded United a penalty in the 75th minute, and Fernandes stepped up to calmly slot the ball into the back of the net, sending the United fans into raptures.
The Red Devils continued to press forward and were rewarded for their persistence in the 77th minute. A brilliant run by Marcus Rashford saw him glide past a couple of Fulham defenders before laying the ball off to Sabitzer, who slotted the ball into the bottom corner to put United ahead for the first time in the match.
Fulham tried to find a way back into the game, but their task was made even harder when Willian and Mitrovic were both sent off for separate incidents in the closing stages of the game.
United sealed the victory in the 90th minute with a superb finish from Fernandes. The Portuguese midfielder picked up the ball on the edge of the box and fired a powerful shot past the helpless Fulham keeper to put the icing on the cake for the home side.
The final whistle blew, and the Old Trafford faithful erupted in joy as their team secured their place in the next round of the FA Cup.
