Title favorites Liverpool slumped to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Leicester City after a wasteful game which saw top scorer Mo Salah being denied from the spot.
Liverpool started in their usual 4-3-3 shape with Konstantinos Tsimikas replacing the suspended Andrew Robertson at LB position and Diogo Jota leading the line alongside Salah and Mane on wings.
Leicester City were forced to fill the places with youngster Dewsbury-Hall starting in midfield and Wilfried Ndidi starting in defense to cover for the injured Johnny Evans. Hamza Choudhury, Jamie Vardy and Iheanacho completed the starting
lineup for the foxes.
Liverpool were awarded an early penalty when Ndidi's dangling leg caught Salah just as he as about to go on one of his trademark dribbles inside the box.
But Kasper Schmiechel saved the resulting spot kick from Salah himself and the rebound was denied by the bar. Salah has now missed his third spotkick this season.
Schmeichel has now saved the most penalties in the Premier League since the start of 2020, with Salah's save being his third.
Liverpool kept on piling the pressure and should have scored early on in the second half when Mane was provided with a golden opportunity, but he fired over.
Leicester had a clear game plan to defend deep and attack Liverpool on the counter. Ademola Lookman, who had come on as a substitute combined well with Dewsbury-Hall on their left side and fired home
the first goal to send the King Power crowd into wild ruptures.
Some last ditch desperate defending was needed but Leicester held on to their slender lead and grabbed all three points.
The result leaves Liverpool 6 points adrift of Man City at the summit and moves Leicester up to 9th in the top half of the table.
