Antonio Conte' dream start at Tottenham Hotspur, has come to a halt. Tottenham was knocked out of the League Cup by their city rivals, Chelsea. Yesterday's defeat to Chelsea marked Conte's first home defeat at Tottenham's glamorous stadium.
The Tottenham regime had promised to fund Conte's ideas and provide him all the necessary assistance in the Italian's conquest to "Make Tottenham Great Again."
On paper, the team from North London can beat anybody on their day. The major problem at Tottenham seems to be the lack of quality in the bench and squad depth.
With the winter transfer getting off to a fast start, there is still no movement in the "White Half" of North London. Daniel Levy seems hesitant about opening his checkbook. Spurs' London rivals, Aston Villa, have made their intentions clear with the signing of Coutinho and Digne. The newly owned Newcastle has signed Tottenham's ex-player, Trippier, and further strengthened their core with the signing of Woods.
If Levy decides to open his checkbook, here are the three players that could muscle Tottenham's arsenal.
1) Tariq Lamptey (RWB - 21 years)
The Englishman is making quite an impression with his performances at Brighton. Wingbacks are the core of any Antonio Conte's team, and the Spurs team is short in those positions. Lamptey would be a major upgrade on Doherty.
The 21-year-old is rapid and excellent in both halves of the pitch. Spurs have to move in swiftly for "The England International's" signature.
2) Donny Van De Beek (CM - 24 years)
Since the departure of Eriksen, Spurs are lacking creativity and brains in the midfield. The dip in Dele Alli's form has further dampened their creativity. Daniel Levy could make headlines if he succeeds in signing Donny Van Beek from United.
The Dutch international is a proven midfielder and is desperate for a move away from Old Trafford. The signing of Donny will provide creativity and firepower to Tottenham's midfield.
Suggestion:
Ousmane Dembele ( RW - 24 years)
The trio of Son, Dembele, and Kane will be a force to reckon with in Europe. The Frenchman will perfectly complement the duo of Kane and Son.
