World Cancer Day aims to prevent millions of deaths each year by raising awareness and education about cancer, and pressing governments and individuals across the world to take action against the disease.
This day is observed to encourage the prevention, detection, diagnosis and treatment of cancer as soon as possible.
The significance of the day is to reduce cancer’s impact and provide moral and medical support to cancer patients and survivors through collective support.
It’s a global initiative led by the Union of International Cancer Control (UICC).
The theme for World Cancer Day 2022-2024 is Close the care gap.
Every single person has the ability to make a difference, large or small, but together the health community can make real progress in reducing the global impact of cancer. Most cancer can be cured if detected at an early stage, but people's negligence usually leads to severe stages in cancer.
Therefore, it’s important to go for regular health checkups, and be part of this movement and build a cancer free world.
