Kailash, Kulbhushan, Richa win singles titles – Kuldeep Panwar Memorial Inter-Media Badminton
Defending champion Kailash Nath won the men’s singles (open) title and Kulbhushan Ahuja won the men’s singles title in the +45 years category, while Richa Sehgal won the women’s singles title in the fourth edition of the Kuldeep Panwar Memorial Inter-Media Badminton Tournament held at Sector 38 West Sports Complex in Chandigarh on Sunday.
The tournament was organised by the Punjab-Haryana-Chandigarh Sports Journalist Association and Chandigarh Badminton Association in the memory of sports journalist Kuldeep Panwar, who passed away of cardiac arrest at a young age 29 in 2017.
In the men’s singles final (open category), Kailash defeated Satish Kumar in the straight games (15-4, 15-6).
Ashwani Chawla and Rohit won a bronze medal each.
In the men’s singles +45 years category, Kulbhushan Ahuja won the first position, while Ramesh Handa won second position.
Inderpal Singh and Umesh Ghrera won a bronze medal each.
In the women’s singles finals, Richa Sehgal defeated Charanjeet Kaur. Jasvir Kaur and Harpreet Kaur won a bronze medal each.
In the women’s doubles final, team of Richa Sehgal and Charanjeet Kaur defeated the pair of Jasvir Kaur and Harpreet Kaur.
In the mixed doubles, Gaurav Marwaha and Richa Seghal defeated the team of Kulbhushan Ahuja and Jasvir Kaur to grab the gold medal.
The team of Ramesh Handa and Charanjeet Kaur was placed third.
In the men’s doubles, team of Kulbhushan and Ramesh Handa won gold, while team of Saurabh Duggal and Kailash Nath won silver.
Team of Saitsh-Gaurav and Ashwani Kumar-Vikash Thakur won a bronze medal each.
