Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has issued a troubling apology following the Reds' humiliating 3-0 defeat to Wolves on February 4.
Wolves added to Liverpool's recent woes with a 3-0 Premier League defeat at the Molineux Stadium today. The hosts won thanks to an own goal by Joel Matip and goals by Craig Dawson and Ruben Neves.
The Reds have now conceded three goals in each of their last three Premier League away games. It is also worth noting that they have yet to win a league game since the beginning of the year.
After the game, Klopp admitted that he had no explanation for what went wrong for his team that evening. He also insisted that Liverpool's performance in the first 15 minutes, when they conceded two goals, was unacceptable. He told the press
"Again, I'm at a loss for words. These 15 minutes, however, cannot be allowed. It has to change. That's the problem. "I'm standing here again, and I'm sorry that I have no explanation for the first 15 minutes."
"We eventually lost 3-0 because the goal in the second half was possibly their first time crossing the halfway line. But it's correct because you don't deserve anything in a Premier League game when you start like this."
Liverpool will now hope to turn things around when they host Everton at home next Monday. The Toffees, on the other hand, are coming off a 1-0 win over table-toppers Arsenal.
Klopp stated that the Reds now have something to prove when they face their Merseyside rivals. The German, on the other hand, stressed the importance of his team drastically improving their performance. He stated:
"We must immediately change it in the next game." "Everton won [against Arsenal] today, and they are in good form, so we need to prove ourselves once more."
