Jammu traders have opposed proposed entry of Reliance JioMart in Jammu and Kashmir. Ware House Traders Federation said small and medium traders will be severely affected by the proposed opening of 100 retail outlets of Reliance in Jammu province . Ware House in Jammu houses biggest retailers of the J&K who supply grocery and other retail products across J&K and Ladakh. It is one of the influential trader federation with deep pocket. Traders Federations said these retail outlets will not only sell grocery but wine, beer and medicines too but will operate 24-hr whole week. Since the opening of Best Price the business of small retailers in its vicinity has been severely affected. Since the abrogation of Art 370 on Aug 5, 2019, traders in Jammu have been hit hard by government decision. This year government cancelled Licence system of Liquor trade and started yearly auction of wine shops despite strong protest by liquor traders who were continuing it as family business , some for more than 50-yr. Jammu liquor traders allege though domicile certificate was made mandatory for participation in auction but it's an open secret that liquor trade is now run by people from outside Jammu. Similarly, sand mining operation is also allegedly run by big businessmen from outside Jammu. Traders Federation have decided to hold protest unless the decision is taken back. Grocery is 70 per cent of the Indian retail market, 90 per cent-plus unorganised, driven by Kirana stores/small retailers
