Nowadays teens and people in their early 20s are getting addicted to video games. Their are n number of YouTuber channels coming up related to gaming.
But is this anywhere related to mental health?
In short, yes.
This is so because video games distract us from our pain and psychological trauma. This might seem as a good solution to cope up with our mental health but we cannot forget how this is a short term solution.
In the long run, excessive gaming is associated with a variety of negative psychosocial effects. Studies have found that video game addicts tend to have poorer mental health and cognitive functioning, including poorer impulse control and more ADHD symptoms when compared with control groups. It also evokes an aggressive behaviour among people, especially young adults.
