No one is denying the fact that he got into the sport with his grit and determination. But this post is not about race. Well...it is kinda but not the one you’re implying.
Every other driver on the grid is criticised for their shortcomings. It’s unfair to put up Hamilton on a pedestal just because of the colour of his skin.
Yes everyone is criticised but have you not noticed that he always seems to get the harshest of penalties all the time. While others seem to get away lightly. So is this discrimination or not?
The FIA in the recent past has been very lenient with Hamilton. Even in the incident I described with Alex Alvin and Redbull, did not receive any penalty despite clearly being at fault.
The race in Bahrain this year which had Max Verstappen’s last lap overtake deemed illegal for the exceeding of track limits saw Lewis Hamilton do the same violation 28 times during the same race without facing any action from the FIA.
Hamilton in multiple interviews has said that people always look for new ways to beat him. If not on the track, then in some other way. Being a black champion, he will always receive more hate from people because it has been internalised over generations.
A black figure on top will always be a target for pulling down. Nitpicking. This is another of those instances. I don’t see you having written about any other driver’s complaining issues.
Once again, this is being made into a race issue. That is not the point of my post.
I’m only talking about the current 7 time world Champion not knowing how to graciously accept defeat. You can’t always win a race and lashing out at your team everytime you lose is not behaviour worthy of a multiple World champion. Take the bad as it comes along with the good.
Be gracious in victory and defeat. I reiterate that Hamilton has much to learn when it comes to the consumption of a certain humble pie.
His words when a race goes his way then seem performative if he can’t follow what he himself says.
I think it’s unfair to call Hamilton a sore loser. He’s a Black person who has had to claw his way up to the top. It’s never been easy for him and it’s not been given to him on a platter. He’s had to face racial discrimination and the only reason he’s on top is because of his grit, determination and his ace driving skills.
Some amount of aggression is to be expected in a highly competitive sport. No one is perfect and remember his good side too. He used his celebrity status to stand up for the Black Lives Matter movement and give it traction.
