"He is waiting for Barcelona," Renowned journalist on Lionel Messi's future
Lionel Messi's two-year contract with PSG ends in the summer, as there is growing uncertainty in regards to his future. Many sources have linked him to the MLS, whereas, even his former club Barcelona remains an option. Lionel Messi is yet to sign a contract extension at the French club, as he is still considering the options on his table.
According to TyC Sports journalist Gaston Edul, Lionel Messi is waiting for Barcelona to make an offer. He stated that the World Cup winner will not reject the PSG offer, but wants Barcelona to make an offer for him.
“Time is playing against PSG and if Messi was 100% convinced, he would have already signed the extension with PSG, who are already on the table. He is not going to reject PSG, but he is waiting for Barcelona,” Edul claimed.
Given Barcelona's poor financial health, it remains to see if the club can register Lionel Messi next season. In either case, Edul believes that the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner is not considering MLS an option at the moment.
“We have to see if Barcelona can register his contract, which is not easy. PSG will make him a new proposal at another meeting. Messi has an option in MLS, but he wants to continue in Europe and is not considering this option at the moment," the journalist added.
