Last week there was a whirlwind for the decision that the University of North Carolina was making in regards to Nikole Hannah-Jones’s tenure. Hannah-Jones is notable for developing the infamous 1619 Project that tries to rewrite American history.
Hannah-Jones’s tenure decision was postponed for a few months causing outrage by those on the left. Eventually, last week, she was granted tenure at the University she holds her degree from. But you’ll never guess what she did this week. She quit UNC and joined the faculty at Howard University. She did this on the same day famed racist Ta-Nehisi Coates joined Howard. Was she planning this all along?
I think so, and I think the fuss she made about her tenure vote was a ploy to get her name in the headlines. Considering the fact that she is starting a new program at Howard, it is clear that this was a move planned well in advance. What a shame that she would use calls of racism in the tenure vote just to boost her image in anticipation for this move.
