Only if del Piero hadn't had those injury problems, the Old Lady might have had their champion rally the legendary team to more European highs
On 29th November, 2001, Juventus took on Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League group stages with a chance to go to the top of their group. The game was postponed twice before it finally took place but Juventus left no stone unturned in making a strong impression.
While David Trezeguet scored a brace and set a goal up for Alessandro del Piero, his second goal was quite impressive.
Pavel Nedved made a run down the left flank and played a great cross in for Trezeguet, who came up with an excellent volley off his first touch to beat the goalkeeper. It was one of the most spectacular goals from the striker in the Old Lady shirt.
