Matching its hype, God Of War: Ragnarok has not disappointed as Sony has revealed that the ninth installment into the God Of War franchise has become the fastest selling first party entry in Playstation history covering the combined PS4 and PS5 sales through November 13.
Rapidly overtaking the pace set by its 2018 predecessor, which sold 3.1 million units throughout the month it was released, Sony announced Ragnarok’s historic milestone on the company's official Twitter account, with the sequel allegedly selling over 5.1 million copies throughout its first week.
As such, God Of War: Ragnarok has well surpassed previous record holders, including Naughty Dog's The Last of Us Part 2 and Insomniac Games' Marvel's Spider-Man, which sold 4 million and 3.3 million copies in their first three days, respectively.
Nonetheless, despite its success, Ragnarok is yet a far cry away from its predecessor’s PC sales which have exceeded 23 million records sold. However, as Ragnarok is yet to come out on PC it is too early to say if it would manage to break that record, and the PC sale is unlikely to launch until 2023 or 2024.
