Nice! Let's see what game awards result in...
FromSoftware’s action RPG Elden Ring has won the Game Of The Year 2022 at this year’s Golden Joysticks Awards to almost nobody’s surprise. Launched in 1983, it is the world’s longest-running video game award event, organised by games media publisher Future.
A People’s Choice award ceremony, the award determines the category of winners entirely by public voting. Though the biggest winner at the awards, bagging a total of five categories, the other winners have been quite varied such as Cult of Luna taking the award for Best Indie Game, Horizon Forbidden West for Best Storytelling and Final Fantasy 14 for Best Game Community.
Bandai Namco and FromSoftware’s Elden Ring has essentially dominated a big chunk of the gaming in 2022, and for good reason, as it is one of the most challenging, hardest, interesting games filled with difficult combat, great visuals, exploration, storytelling, world building and a fantastic sense of immersion which is hardly ever broken.
For the upcoming Game Of The Year Awards, Elden Ring and God Of War: Ragnarok will be the closest contenders, and while Ragnarok is a worthy candidate taking the best part of its predecessor and improving upon them, Elden Ring is still the superior game and deserves the prize. Two epic games backed into a corner, each a champion and to the victor go the spoils.
