Dear India,
Whatever is easing your pain tonight, pass some of it to us, too. I mean, no biggie, but this was the biggest game of cricket in ICC tournaments. And we lost. And it is heartbreaking, to say the least. I'll be honest, I've never really believed in superstitions or horoscopes, but damn, is the number 13 actually unlucky!
And I can talk about a million little details and what-ifs, but what is the use. All the stats and averages and economies and strike rates and run rates and analyses in the world can explain the loss, but who cares? It can't plug the pain that I'm feeling.
Correction, the pain that we are feeling. A billion souls are broken right now, a billion prayers unanswered. A billion chants of Kohli-Kohli that didn't work the magic we hoped it would, and a billion hearts that bled blue, are now feeling blue.
This match was never just a cricket match. It has been an emotion, a legacy, a legend, and a myth. It was a pride that we've inherited from our grandparents who adored Kapil Dev and Gavaskar, carried by our parents who hailed Sachin and Dravid, and now, as we look upto Virat Kohli's men, it is a feeling of a collective success, a collective responsibility, and at this moment, a very crushing, disappointing, collective failure.
So, tonight, let's step back and feel the sadness. Take it all in. And if you hear sounds of some TVs breaking near your neighbourhood, don't report me.
Cheers.🥂🇮🇳❤️
