With Stokes out, RR will need more than luck to come close to the last year's finalists
Sanju Samson and Rajasthan Royals (RR) suffered a heartbreak in their opening match of IPL 2021 against the Punjab Kings (PBKS). In spite of Samson recording a three-figure score, the Royals fell short of the target by 4 runs to begin their 2021 IPL campaign on a losing note. And now, they will be up against the Delhi Capitals in Match No.7 of the 14th IPL edition.
On the other hand, the Delhi Capitals (DC) started their IPL campaign on a rousing note against the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Even though the CSK outfit scored 188/7 in their allotted 20 overs, the Delhi willow wielders chased down the target with ease.
When Prithvi Shaw gets going, it seems as if he can do no wrong. Treating the CSK bowlers with nonchalant disdain, Shaw blasted a murderous 72 at a strike rate of 189.47 to rattle the Chennai outfit. Shikhar Dhawan too blazed his way to a 54-ball 85 as the Shaw-Dhawan duo walloped the Chennai bowling attack.
Both the matches at the Wankhede Stadium so far have seen the batsmen hammering the bowlers all around the park. And, both Rajasthan Royals, as well as Delhi Capitals, have some big hitters in their batting arsenal. And, surely, we can expect the willow wielders from both sides to go hammer and tongs after the bowlers when the two teams face off against each other on 15th April 2021.
The two matches that have taken place at the Wankhede Stadium thus far in this edition of the IPL have given the indication that the pitch is a belter for batting. The boundaries are not very long, and the ball has come onto the bat. And definitely, a high-scoring encounter is on the cards.
The Rajasthan Royals have received a huge jolt as news has come in that Ben Stokes is ruled out of the remainder of the IPL. Either Liam Livingstone or David Miller will replace Stokes in the side. The rest of the lineup will remain the same.
After a splendid performance in the previous encounter, the Delhi Capitals are most likely to go in with an unchanged side.
