Belgium have had a mixed start to their group-stage campaign in the FIFA World Cup 2022. They are set to face Croatia in their last game but "internal issues" could lead to an early exit from the tournament.
The Red Devils won their first game with Canada. But before their second game, Kevin De Bruyne gave a controversial interview where he claimed that Belgium can't win the World Cup as the team was "too old". This reportedly didn't go well with the team and has caused disharmony.
Following their 2-0 loss to Morocco in the second game, the Belgium dressing room was reportedly in tatters. The Red Devils now need to face off against Croatia in a do-or-die game but Kevin De Bruyne's comments could eventually lead to their downfall. News even emerged that Courtois and De Bruyne were not even talking to each other in the dressing room.
Eden Hazard clarified in the press conference before the Croatia game that Belgium are prepared and fired down any comments about disharmony. Hazard also commented on what De Bruyne said and clarified, "Sometimes in an interview, you say funny things, you don't really mean it, I think he just wanted to say that we are older than four years ago, and he is right, we are older."
Belgium are currently third in their group. Only a win against Croatia would take them to the knockout stage! It has to be seen if the Red Devils can go through on Thursday.
