14th BIFFES ends today. Watched some good movies this year. ‘World in Bengaluru’ brought in world cinema to the Orion Mall. Good stuff was shorter queues, whenever waited than usual, air-conditioned indoors comforted me. Films are shown on PVR screens. Could get in early and check reviews for the next one. Unlike the sweaty runs between the venues of IFFK, BIFFES is a breezy experience since most of it is happening in a city mall. Food court and chai(tea) points kept me fresh. It was bit of a travel from home. No trace of insomnia last week😉
Movies have improved post covid. I meant, that crucial period till 2022. Skipped regional ones except one Malayalam film –Family. Missed World War III, Broker and Shrieking in the Rain. Saint Omer was a tough court drama. Stone Turtle and Godland were unique experiences. Minsk terrified me. Will write.
I could see many oldies at the fest. Must be Kannadiga intellectuals. Enjoyed their synopsis discussions from behind. Festival crowd was very disciplined here.
Almost 200 movies from 50 countries screened at BIFFES. More Kannada films were included compared to previous years.
