Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez could have been part of the Brazil team this World Cup. The South American nation had reportedly given him an offer to join the national team squad as an assistant coach to Tite.
Xavi joined Barcelona in November 2021. Since then, the Spaniard has given a boost to the Catalan club that has seen them climb to the top of the LaLiga table. However, this would not have been the case if the 2010 FIFA World Cup winner had chosen a different offer. In a recent interview, the Barca manager claimed that he had a chance to be a backroom staff under Tite.
As per Barça News, Xavi said, "It was an opportunity through the president of the Brazilian Federation (Rogério Caboclo). They came to Qatar and told me that I could be part of Tite’s coaching staff. But I wanted to be a coach, not an assistant. My wish was to be a coach. It would have been a tremendous opportunity. It was a chance to be the first European to work for the Brazilian national team. But, at that time, it didn’t happen. It was clear to me that I wanted to be a coach for Barcelona, that it was my dream, and here I am.”
Barça fans would certainly be pleased that the Spaniard didn't jump on to that opportunity. Could Brazil be playing the Tiki Taka in a parallel universe?
