The first deputy of the prime minister, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, met with the UN Development Program (UNDP) director, Achim Steiner, in Doha, Qatar.
Mohammad Naeem, the spokesman for the Taliban's Qatar-based political office, said in a tweet on Monday that the two sides discussed the current situation of Afghanistan, economic challenges, and treatment for drug addicts.
Last week the officials of the Islamic Emirate held talks with five top officials of the United Nations, calling for the release of Afghanistan's assets and the continuation of humanitarian assistance.
However, political experts said that the Islamic Emirate would not satisfy the world through such meetings.
"These meetings won't be effective in releasing Afghanistan's assets or reducing poverty or providing aid," said Abdul Naseer Rishtia, a political expert. "These challenges will not be solved unless the Taliban meets the conditions of the international community."
UNAMA also confirmed that the head of the organization held meetings with the Islamic Emirate's officials. The formation of an inclusive government, the prevention of a humanitarian crisis, and the increase of international aid were discussed in the meetings.
"The frozen assets of Afghanistan triggered a controversy between the Republicans and Democrats in the US, and that caused Biden to reserve the money," said Tariq Farhodi, a political analyst.
Regarding the effectiveness of the meetings, Shahabuddin Liwal, a member of the cultural commission of the Ministry of Information and Culture, said that the meetings would pave the ground for the release of assets. "It will cause the US to unfreeze Afghanistan's money because currently there is a serious need to unfreeze the money," he added.
Based on the reports, the delegation of the Islamic Emirate will meet with the Chinese envoy in Doha.
